update: FINALLY! The FDA recently decided to agree with those of us in the natural health care field who have been saying for years that there is a daily exposure of mercury from chewing with mercury amalgam fillings in the mouth and that there may be some health risks involved with this.

"Dental amalgams contain mercury, which may have neurotoxic effects on the nervous systems of developing children and fetuses. When amalgam fillings are placed in teeth or removed from teeth, they release mercury vapor. Mercury vapor is also released during chewing"
